Google Netcam Hack

Filed under: Google, Net Security around 8:49 pm

People put cameras on the net without a password and we can get into them. The keyword here in Google is: inurl:”ViewerFrame?Mode=”

Anyone find any cool ones?

I found some dock and malls and street cameras and other crap, a beach view, some really nice cars, and a computer room somewhere. It is hilarious. Hint: Pan the camera around the room a bit. Zoom in to read the poster on the guy’s cubicle.

Link to the actual search query… or try this one

This seems to be a lot like unsecured WiFi from a legal standpoint. Who’s ultimately to blame for this? Is it the webcam owner for not securing their camera? Is it Google for not blocking this content? Or are we, the end users, to blame for “intruding” on their webcam. What happens if someone doesn’t secure a webcam in a day care center, or a hospital?

Personally, I think it’s clearly the responsibility of the owner of the webcam. I bet the law would feel differently, though…

50 Fun things to do with an Ipod

Filed under: Interesting Findings around 8:48 pm

Here’s a link where it will let you explore more about iPods, other than listening to music. Some of these I didn’t even know you could do with an iPod. I can’t wait to try the universal remote control mod.

Google Finds ADMIN Passwords

Filed under: Google, Net Security around 8:48 pm

Google can find just about anything. Here is THE Master list of all kinds os sensitive stuff Google can find. Password lists, Admin usernames/passwords, logs….EVERYTHING.

Words cannot describe how amazingly amazing this is. Google truly is a hacker’s/cracker’s best friend. But careful what you do with info on this site. in many cases, the stuff you’re accessing is against the law to access without permission, even if it’s accidentally made public. bear in mind that since many site admins are aware of this database, they may already have a honeypot waiting for you. just a word of warning for any script kiddies out there. have fun, and don’t put an eye out!

Here’s another one that i dont see there. Search this: inurl:service.pwd

If the link above doesn’t work, have no fear, google cache is here!

Google finds stuff people put online for all to see. If you leave a password file anywhere where Google can access and find it, deserves to be hacked.

Here’s another one that catches my eye, this guy basically wrote a tutorial on finding passwords using google.

Top five ways MP3 has changed the world

Filed under: Interesting Findings around 8:48 pm

From wikipedia: “On July 7, 1994 the Fraunhofer Society released the first software MP3 encoder called l3enc. The filename extension .mp3 was chosen by the Fraunhofer team on July 14, 1995 (previously, the files had been named .bit). With the first realtime software MP3 player Winplay3 (released September 9th, 1995) many people were able to encode and playback MP3 files on their PCs.” This medium has been used and abused… How has is changed the world?

The linked article is actually pretty thin.

  1. Making music vanish into thin air - This is an overstatement. It’s true that most forms of music on your computer are mp3, but it isn’t true that most music floating around is in mp3 format.
  2. Bringing the major labels online - I’d give more credit to iTunes and their DRMed .aac files. If I remember correctly the major labels were hesitant in distributing online because they couldn’t control mp3 distribution.
  3. Speeding up the Internet, enriching the Web - Meh, I’d say the drop in prices had a lot to do with it, too. This is an overstatement.
  4. Giving bands a platform - mp3 didn’t do this so much as good, cheap software for encoding and a faster internet did.
  5. Shifting power from Sony to Apple - the iPod definitely wasn’t the first harddrive player to embrace the mp3 format. The iPod succeeded because of its interface and relentless marketing.

Or… there’s another version to it :P

  1. Making pr0n VHS tapes vanish into thin air
  2. Bringing small time pr0n stars online
  3. Speeding up the Internet, enriching the Web
  4. Giving amatures a platform
  5. Shifting power from big publishers to anyone with a DV Cam

Honorable mentions: * Feeding peer-to-peer networks * Driving a hardware sales
boom Ok, now lets do it again with Divx!..

Bridging the Google Ad Gap

Filed under: Google AdSense around 8:48 pm

Search engines became the darlings of internet advertising thanks to pay-per-click programs, but those snag only 5 percent of web surfers’ online time. Here’s a proposal to grab the other 95 percent of the market.

Free Official Vista Icons Set

Filed under: Eye Catching around 8:48 pm

This site contains the all new icon set for Microsoft’s new OS Vista which will be released next year. Well over 113 “new look” .ico icons. I like them, much more sexier than xp ones. Look like Mac OS X icons and those actually look pretty damn good. For a Windows set…Nothing special.

Here’s its shortcuts:
View all 113 icons : Download Icons

I found this program that lets you change icons easily. This was just the first thing that I ran across. Unfortunately you have to change each icon individually, no batch options.

Next, I found Icon Packager. It’s a program that lets you create an icon package for XP/2k/ME/98. The shareware version of IconPackager can do all this and more. There’s also The Enhanced Registered Version. Download the torrent file for IconPackager 3.0.

Use Google as a Phonebook

Filed under: Google around 8:48 pm

Google has added the convenience of US street address and phone number lookup to the information they provide through the search box. I’m not so sure of what to think of being able to find a map to my house in a couple of clicks though…

They’ve been doing this for a while now, which is why you don’t see the word “New!” next to it in the list. If you’d like a good summary for that site that you can give to your non-geek friends, check here.

Google’s new(?) sponsored links search

Filed under: Google around 8:47 pm

I don’t know how new this is but you can now search through they sponsored links, such as google adwords. why would this be useful you say? Well if you use google adwords, you can see who you’re up against for certain keywords. Kinda cool I guess.
