How to Perform the Balducci Levitation

Filed under: Eye Catching, Interesting Findings around 8:10 pm

Amaze someone by gently rising about 4 inches off the ground. This trick is often seen on tv performed by David Blain or that MindFreak guy. Check out how to do it yourself!

A better explanation can be found here complete with graphics. This is why magicians don’t tell. It basicaly ruins the effect. If you want to enjoy sleight of hand magic, enjoy it for it for what it is… entertainment.

It’s best to wear really long pants while doing this to hide the shoes. It’s the performance of it, and secrecy that made this one of the best bits of street Magic in the past few years. It takes mad skillz to perform something like this (properly) and make it believable, but now I’m sure I”m gonna walk into a bar somewhere and there will be some drunk trying to show it to his friends. :/ Gotta love how people like to just ruin something others might enjoy watching for entertainment.

Magic get’s it’s entertainment factor by casting an illusion… then you have the tards on the internet that post the secrets for everyone and all of the sudden people are saying how “lame” it is. Performing magic, especially close-up magic, is an art and takes years of practice, practice and more practice. It’s not only about learning how to perform a trick but actually making the spectators BELIEVE you are doing magic and believing it yourself.

It has a lot to do with your attitude when doing tricks… and it HAS to be fun for both parties. Granted, the Balducci is an old levitation illusion. More impressive is King’s Rising. Much better presentation and effect.

Blaine’s “levitation” on his Street Magic special has been known for years to be a product of editting. He performed the Balducci, they taped the spectator’s reactions then they rigged up a crane and lifted him off the ground, telling the spectators that it was for television.

That’s why the spectators are seen from the back in any shot where he is several feet off the ground. If you want to see a truely talented magician, I suggest you look up Brad Christian. IMHO he puts Blaine and Angel to shame.

A page of WebCams

Filed under: Eye Catching around 8:09 pm

A page full of hidden webcams. if you read, most of these cams are security cams of a room doing nothing…Now if they were cams of Daytona beach on the beach during spring break..

I love the warning: “Be aware that you’re using up somebody else’s bandwidth, and these cameras can’t handle very many connections at the same time. So, be considerate and don’t leave this window open for very long.” They’re asking for trouble.

Somehow they’re figuring out location. there’s more to the location part than a google hack, i’m guessing. probably be more fun to watch them during the day, but it still wouldn’t be much fun, unless you’re a super-voyeur. and i-hacked got their stuff from johnny.

Gallery of many very odd keyboards

Filed under: Eye Catching around 8:09 pm

These are some of the most peculiar “ergonomic” keyboards I’ve ever seen. Ever seen a keyboard shaped like a pyramid? How about one that looks like a football goalpost? They are all here…

Try this one if the link doesn’t work. The original link is on the bottom right “show all on one page” or google cache of the site.

Man I hate those angled keyboards, they do the opposite of what they were supposed to do, be comfortable…

Hacking Firefox Extensions

This is an excerpt from the ExtremeTech book, Hacking Firefox: More Than 150 Hacks, Mods, and Customizations. In this chapter you’ll learn how to recognize the difference between “old” and “new” extensions, why some extensions from web sites won’t install, how to hack the Extension Manager, and more.

Combining great graphics and CSS

Filed under: CSS, Photoshopz around 8:08 pm

To create mind boggling web design. Here is a well written tutorial outlining how you can combine CSS skills and Photoshop skills.

Way too many images yo! You can do half of that stuff with proper CSS and XHTML. Just my opinion! Sure it looks pretty, but after that, what are you left with? The first two are nice (the second one being better). The third one is ass ugly and I would never even use a website if it was designed like that. Way too many images, horrible colors, ugh.

Any article that has this much raw information is gonna be useful to someone, especially to artists who may know how to make something that looks fresh but not how to translate it to HTML and CSS. It’s a nice basic CSS tips, but if you want “mind boggling web design” in CSS, there’s only ONE place to go - CSS ZenGarden

The Star Wars Wiki

Filed under: Interesting Findings around 8:08 pm

The Star Wars Wiki is a growing free online database that anyone can edit. An on-going project, the wiki currently has over 7000 articles ranging from cultural icons like Darth Vader, to obscure Expanded Universe knowledge. Come take a read and contribute your knowledge.

At least here’s something I can edit. The StarWars.com databank is nice, but incomplete - not to mention the number of errors you’ll find in it. The wiki isn’t perfect either, but, at least you can edit it to make corrections.

How to use Google to find wariaez

Filed under: Google around 8:08 pm

Finding wariaez (or piratitod software) with Google is surprisingly easy (Hehehe.. note the spelling confusion - I don’t want any bots to mark this site). Since the MPAA has shown that linking to piratitod content is illegal, by shutting down several bit torrent sites; i think its only fair that the MPAA shut google down.

In China piracy is rampant and law enforcement is lax, so the warez sites don’t get shut down so much. And also possibly the keyword spammers who ruin Google’s results haven’t got around to spamming chinese keywords yet, so you can still get good results for them.

Anyway, I don’t think there are copyright laws or any sort of IP enforcement in China, thus rampant piracy. If you don’t have any morals at all, it’s a good idea to get some free wariaez there on vacation.

Gangsta Google

Filed under: Google Clones around 8:07 pm

Just what the title says. Check out your blog, read CNN.com and see how a gangsta would have said what’s written there. I love it. I searched my own blog and it was funny hearing my geeky words translated into ghetto-talk.
