Gmail Drive 1.0.6 released

Filed under: GMail around 7:46 pm

The latest version of Gmail drive is out, which allows you to access files on a Gmail account through explorer. The latest patch remedies recent login problems.

I don’t feel comfortable giving some random website my gmail screenname and password. I think I’ll stick with Gmail Drive, as it serves my purposes. NEVER give out your passwords for ANYTHING. There is NO REASON at all that ANY website including the one you registered on would need your password. EVER.

My expierence with gmaildrive is this: I made 3 dummy accounts. Why three? Because once I logged in to the account on GMailDrive and tried to login again I could not log in. So make sure you are using a dummy account and not upload something personal.

Here is a link for a mac equivalent for os x about halfway down the page the second one.

Taken from Aimless Words GMail forum:

  • GD supports 40 character file names.
  • GD files are limited to GMail’s attachment file limits (a bit under 10mb).
  • GD does not explicitly support proxies (using a SOCKS proxy for all outgoing IP traffic would likely work).
  • GD supports one account.
  • GD uses IE under the covers so if you use IE to access your mail account and have another GDrive account you will be logging in over and over when you go to access your mail.
  • GD can be uninstalled in the standard manner - Control Panel, Add/Remove programs.
  • GD does not encrypt attachments placed in your GMail account. Act accordingly.
  • GMail does not like zip files. Rename them prior to placing them in your GDrive.

As quoted from the site:
27 July update: A change in an url redirection of the Gmail service caused problems with login. Version 1.0.6 will resolve the problem. Please uninstall (from the Windows Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs), then reboot and install the new version.

Go and get it guys!!
