A new revolution in search technology has been released. This new web search site could topple the google empire to the ground with speaking excellence. Try it yourself!
For those with extremely bad eyesite this could be a godsend. For me its annoying but I’m gonna bet it helps those with bad sight. Well that’s definately some good voice synthesis, but I don’t see it ever topping Google. And as already mentioned, Google will inevitably invent or acquire their own voice technology.
Now that the Google Maps API has been released there have been dozens of sites taking advantage of it and this site is linking them all as soon as they’re up. Pretty wild stuff, my favorite is “Running of the Bulls Injuries + Google Maps”.
Search patterns, trends, and surprises according to Google. For both breaking news and obscure information alike, people around the world search Google. This flurry of searches often exposes interesting trends, patterns, and surprises.
Tips to move you up the page listings.
There’s a new site out, that combines the power of Google and Yahoo search engines, and its called Gahooyoogle. You enter your search at www.gahooyoogle.com, and it actually splits the screen in two, showing results from Google on one side, and Yahoo on the other. Check it out.
The closest one I’ve found to get the similar result is dogpile where you have them in one list or in seperate lists.
Great article on the base anatomy of your network traffic. Ethereal gets a whole new life if you havent read up.
Here’s another link to the ad-free single-page article.
Download.com With its new look has a good article on how to Download, Subscribe, and Create your own pod-cast. Has links to software and leads you to the correct directions, on the how-to’s on Pod-casting.
great stuff… NOT! because that stupid program for recording is not even free.. it’s trial.. isn’t podcast all about free .. Who honestly wants to listen to every John Doe’s podcast anyways? Who has time for this? Honestly, the quality of most of the podcasts is even lower than the quality of most blogs which is leaving a lot to be desired. The vast majority of podcasts just rehash information that was available days, if not weeks before on other sites in greater detail.
From what I’ve gathered so far Podcasting seems to be for people that want to hear what’s on everyone’s blog but are too lazy to read. I agree that some are definitely well done and presented in a very interesting way however the good ones are just too few and far between. Most of them are just some random John Doe talking about news from blogs/websites. Furthermore, they don’t generally give as much detail and the presenters are often not very knowledgeable about the subject on which they are speaking.
I’m not insulting the people who like Podcasts by any means. If you enjoy them by all means listen to them and have fun, I’m just saying that from the point of view of myself and many others we just don’t get it and aren’t going to spend the time doing it. I think part of the problem though is that my friends and I are looking for really detailed technical/programming information which we feel can’t be found anywhere else other than in tutorials, forums/newsgroups or books.
Podcasting is about storytelling, information, and entertainment. The best shows have at least 2 of those 3. I also can’t read a blog driving to work or on my bike.
Understanding podcasting is completely reliant on finding good programming. If you’re a hardcore tech geek with a geeky sense of humor you may find it a challenge to find programming that satisfies you.

Although many Internet users eagerly await each new technology from Google Inc., its rapid expansion is also prompting concerns that the company may know too much: what you read, where you surf and travel, whom you write.
Just because Google is a major player in the young internet technology market doesn’t mean their track record will necessarily stand the the test of time. I remember a time not too long ago when many people actually loved and wanted to work for a technology company called Microsoft…
In my mind, anyone can do what they did, it is just a matter of marketing and getting past the iron fist that Microsoft now has over the OS market.
I see Microsoft falling to another OS down the road. Something more secure and that interacts with the user in a much more unique way. As technology advances, especially in vocal, mental, and motion we’ll see more hardware making use of it.
Many of the sci-fi movies of yesterday aren’t far from the truth in how technology will progress.
