How to set up multiple homepages in Firefox

Filed under: Browsers around 9:22 am

If there’s more than one site you always visit after starting up Firefox, you can set your homepage to open several tabs of different web sites at once automatically.

I never even considered this to be possible but great feature! It tells you which buttons to press to achieve the same effect. (It doesn’t mention the use of a pipe, which is the manual way to do it).

And everyone thought you couldn’t do this….even a recent PCMag arcticle on browsers said it wished you could….well you can!

A lot more tips on the page… don’t get consumed as there are tons of tips.

Friends of mine work for a big company that blocks their access to a number of popular websites, including free-mailers like Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. Enter anonymous proxy re-direction. Inbox.com Releases new features!

Filed under: Freebies, Interesting Findings around 8:57 am

Inbox.com, a free 2gig email provider, unleashes it’s new features today including Storage with no File-size limit! This does not need to be attachments, but instead, stored on your account, on their servers!

The design is a rip-off from Yahoo!’s layout, but looks better so I guess it’s excusable? The service offered is nice, but the interface is nowhere near as nice as Gmail.

What’s with the invalid certificate message I keep getting. Makes me question the security and validity of the site. Also, there’s no external (POP) access.

Gmails interface is clean, colorful and very efficient. Not only that but gmail will be offering rss feeds as well. I still keep my yahoo email for all the things you cannot get on gmail yet…I see gmail is working on it tho with the new personalized home page :P

I tried uploading a 5mb file to my test inbox.com account, and it fails with a “Error while communicating with server. Please try again later” repeatedly. Actually, I think the email storage isn’t more than 10mb, but there’s a storage option on their main site that says “coming soon”, so maybe that’s it.

When you hit upload button, it tells you all the files combined can not be more than 10 MB, which suspiciously sound like they are using the email attachment upload interface but I did not have enough time and patience today to test if it is true. If anyone tries to upload a file larger than 10Mb and becomes successful, I’d like to hear it.
