Banksy: graffiti master

Filed under: Eye Catching around 8:25 am

Banksy is one of the world’s best graffiti masters. His stencil work is fscking amazing. Seriously!!

Very great stuff! He does have some awesome style, and his messages are very clever. I wish the world had more people like this, yet I had never seen his other work.

Bristol artists are awesome. He made Blur’s album cover for their last album.

Computer Stupidities (read: Dumbass!!)

Filed under: Ntahapehape around 8:23 am

Most of these stories are true. Some happened to me personally. Some happened to friends of mine. Some are considered urban legends, but even most of these are more likely to have happened in some form or another than not.

A website full of stuff like this: “A girl walked into the computer center where I work. She said she was having problems with her Mac. I asked what kind of Mac she had. In an indignant voice, she replied, Duh, Intosh.’ ” Some pretty funny stuff on this site!!!

Here’s some other bangang stories:

  • I was calling to sign up with a new DSL provider. When the guy asked what operating system I was using, I said, “Linux.” I was put on hold for five minutes, and then a supervisor came back and told me, “You can’t use Linux to connect to the Internet. It’s a hacker tool, anyway.” I almost fell out of my chair.
  • “I used to work in the only computer shop in a small village near Milan, in Italy. One day, a customer entered the shop, claiming that his computer wouldn’t work anymore. We narrowed the problem down to the cdrom drive, so we swapped it out with a good one, and it booted up fine. So we reported what we did to the customer.

    * Customer: “I want my CDs back.”
    * Me: “Did you have a CD in the defective unit?”
    * Customer: “Not only one.”
    * Me: “What?”
    * Customer: “It’s a 4x unit, right? It has three CDs in it right now. I thought the CD-ROM was defective, because it never accepted the fourth CD.”

  • “The one I get quite a lot when I reformat a drive for someone I usually set the homepage to google.

I then get the call “I used to be able to get onto the internet, now all I get is a page saying google. Can you reconnect me to the internet”

  • “I’ve just remembered the woman who we replaced a mainboard on her laptop after which she swore blind that the screen was less bright than before we put the screen to full brightness but she was still not happy. We tried to assure her that her screen because of age was starting to fade a little. She said “you have ruined my laptop” then proceeded to show me photos on her laptop that she had taken and said “all these photos are ruined look at them they are dull you have ruined them” and then the best comment “look at this ladies hair in the picture it’s a mess she has verry nice hair usually you have ruined the photo”
Seriously there should be some tests you have to pass before you can buy a computer, these dumbasses just waste so much time.

If you don’t have enough of it… Try this one pulak:

Good and Bad Web Design Features

Filed under: CSS around 8:19 am

Simple rules for simple people. Go through the list of things that people–designers and non-designers–from around the country have cited as the things that make the difference between a well-designed and a poorly designed web page.

But why is it every website trying to be an authority on good and bad web design stinks. This site’s image href’s aren’t even working. Talk about ironic.

It doesn’t take a genious to know that animated gifs and flashy text are poor design. If you want a website that follows rules, then these are good basics. However, following rules can be boring…

The problem I have with this guy’s site is that its all text. Where are the examples?!?

If you still dont get it, click here then

Optimize Windows XP Services

Filed under: Interesting Findings around 8:14 am

Windows expert Beemer recommends shutting off unneeded services in Windows to speed up your computer’s startup and performance.

That is some good information provided. I’ve been meaning to track down exactly how important each service actually was, but now it looks like someone did the job for me.

Google search for “Black Viper Windows Services”. That site has had that info too.
I’ve known about BV’s list too, but this list is more aimed at a faster startup and better system performance. where as black viper’s list is a TON of things!

I just wish the BlackViper.Com website was still available. It hasn’t been around since mid-April. It was a great site but no one seems to know where it went! (you still can access it via those cached websites)

Find Sounds

Filed under: Interesting Findings around 8:13 am

A free site where you can search the Web for sound effects and musical instrument samples.

As far as the licenses go… I believe that it just searches the internet so the licenses are dependant upon the site, it never hurts to email the site admin and ask for usage.

Try “Fart” as a sample search LOL!!

The most effective electronic optical illusion I’ve seen

Filed under: Eye Catching around 8:12 am

This has to be the most effective electronic optical illusion I’ve seen. You may have come across this one before.

If you like that illusion, look at this one, or gallery.future-i.com/illusions/
or gprime.net/images/trippy

It’s crazy that this isn’t an animated gif. I’m gonna be sick… God forbid the internet have anything even remotely entertaining on it. What a ridiculous idea. Well, we’re big boys, we can handle it. (sniff, sniff)

Have a google fight with googlefight!

Filed under: Google Clones around 8:09 am

Ever wondered which word would get more hits on google? well google fight saves the time of manually going to Google and doing it the long way.

Try “Search” and “Post”

Where are they now? Cast & Crew of TechTV

Filed under: Interesting Findings around 8:07 am

I think it is time to move on and bury TechTV as it was. It was a great network with great shows; however, it is time to move on from them and start enjoying the new incarnations from it. This is what all the old TechTV cast & crew are up to.

If it involves the G4 network it will not enter my home. Period. I’ll support EVERYTHING that the TSS crew does outside of the G4 arena, but fuck that company.

Kevin Perirera and Alex Albrecht do not belong on that list. Nothing against either of them, but neither ever worked for TechTV.

Alex was one of the first nails in the coffin of TSS and Kevin Perirera one of the last. Neither of them added to the show, with Alex being an annoying spaz seemingly on crystal meth and/or coke, and Kevin P. coming off as a smarmy used car salesman. Kind of a disgrace to even allow them in the same company as Patrick Norton and Leo.
